Gifts, Super Hellos and Icebreakers are the ways to reach a creator on hello.fan without starting a call. A gift is a small paid thank-you you can send during a call or from their page; a Super Hello is a gift with a short private note that the creator can answer once; and an Icebreaker is a one-line hello for 10 credits, perfect when they're offline, which they also answer once.

What is a gift?
A gift is a way to say thank you that also supports the creator. You pick one from the gift list, during a call or from their page, and it's paid from your credits. Gifts start from 100 credits ($1). The creator keeps their share of it, just like a call: 60%, or 70% if they run a linked store.fan shop.
On a creator's page, sending takes two taps on purpose: tapping a gift selects it, and a separate Send button pays for it, so you never send one by accident.
What is a Super Hello?
A Super Hello is a gift with a short private note attached. The note is between you and the creator: it isn't shown on their public page or anywhere else. The creator can reply to it once, and you get a notification when they do.
Super Hellos are good for the things you'd like to say but don't need a call for:
- "Your video on morning routines changed my week. Thank you."
- "I passed my exam! Your tips on speaking slowly really helped."
- "Happy birthday from a fan in Brazil."
What is an Icebreaker?
An Icebreaker is a one-line hello that costs 10 credits (10 cents). You can send it whenever you like, and it's especially useful when a creator is offline: they see it later and can answer once. Their reply shows up for you, with a notification.
You can have one Icebreaker waiting with each creator at a time. Once they've answered, or after a week without an answer, you can send another. It's a small, low-pressure way to make contact before you call, or to let someone know you'd love to talk when they're back online.
How do they compare?
| Gift | Super Hello | Icebreaker | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | A paid thank-you | A gift with a private note | A one-line hello |
| Cost | From 100 credits ($1) | The gift's price | 10 credits |
| When | During a call or from their page | From their page | Any time outside a call |
| Reply | None needed | One reply | One reply |
| Best for | Saying thanks in the moment | A message that matters | Saying hi, starting contact |
Why only one reply?
Because a Super Hello or an Icebreaker is a message, not a chat thread. One reply keeps it personal and fair: the creator can answer properly, and nobody is expected to keep a conversation going in writing. If you'd like to talk more, that's what calls and booked sessions are for.
What makes a good note or hello?
- Be specific. "Loved your last video" is nice; "your tip about warming up my voice before singing worked" is memorable.
- Keep it short. Both are meant to be read in a few seconds.
- Ask one easy question, if you want an answer: "What song should I learn next?"
- Say when you'd like to talk. "I'd love to call when you're next online" gives them a reason to watch for you.
What isn't allowed?
The same rules as everywhere on hello.fan. Notes and hellos can't contain sexual content, harassment or threats, and they aren't a place to swap phone numbers or other contact details. A message that breaks the rules isn't sent. If a creator receives something abusive, they can block and report the sender.
Do gifts change how a creator treats you?
A gift is a thank-you, not a ticket. Good creators treat every fan with the same respect, whether they've sent gifts or not, and you should never feel pushed into sending one. If a call ever feels like pressure to spend, you can end it whenever you like. See is paid chat safe for fans?
Where do you see the replies?
When a creator answers your Super Hello or your Icebreaker, you get a notification, and your account keeps a list of the notes and hellos you've sent with the replies underneath. You don't need to have called someone before: anyone with a creator page can receive a gift, a Super Hello or an Icebreaker from you.
When is each one the right choice?
- Right after a call that helped: a gift, sent from the call controls.
- After a milestone the creator helped with, such as an exam, a first gig or a finished painting: a Super Hello that tells them about it.
- Before your first call, to say hi and ask when they're usually online: an Icebreaker.
- When they're offline for a while: an Icebreaker, then heart them so you get an alert when they're back.
Can you send a gift during a call?
Yes. The gift button sits in the call controls. It's a nice way to say thanks at the end of a call that helped, and the creator sees it right away.
The short version
Gift to say thanks, Super Hello to say something that matters, Icebreaker to say hi. All three are paid from your credits, and the creator can reply once to a note or a hello. Ready to try one? Find a creator who's online now, or read how to video call a creator you follow first.
